Since the past year to now, many of God’s good servants have been ushered home to their rewards. But may I ask each of us, this question. Now many have flown away, what about you to carry on? How are you working for the Lord, are you tired, stressed, discouraged or just plain pooped. “Be not weary in welldoing, for in due time you shall reap if you do not faint”. Galatian 6: 9.
Jesus had his own strategy after dealing with the crowds of the day- He sometimes went up to a mountain away from everyone to refresh himself and to talk with his father. He knew when to pull away for he was tired and hungry like us, and each day’s task was grueling. We need rest, we need to step back and assess ourselves and think through the work we did each day. Burn out is NOT of God, for Jesus our Lord showed us how to do ministry without ‘burn-outs’.
Today Friday, I had my hands full- two zoom meetings, one notary signing away from home, delivering of packages to two different homes. On my way home I realized that I had no lunch and I was thirsty and hungry. I came home and made tuna sandwiches and a glass of lemonade and a slice of Banana bread. What was my body saying? stop and eat, and spend a little time sorting mail and just chill and get perspective of the morning and all I was able to do.
I am just reminding myself and you dear friend, to stop thinking that we are super giants and when we get to heaven we can rest. hahahahaa! learn to rest now and you and I will last longer, our family will not be afraid of us because we become snappy, and of course our churches will be happy for us. God desires the worker’s time with Him, NOT the work so much. We must have balance as we serve our Lord. One day you and I will hear God’s word, ‘Well done’ so let us balance our time so that we can enjoy this precious work He has called us into with joy, not a heavy heart and resentment. “The joy of the Lord is our strength!”.
